A funny little bug in Flash today made every walk cycle and idol play simultaneously, so I got a screenshot.

by the way....anyone here know any AS3 ? :P ...got a memory leak.

OMG, that is funny! And that is Flash? Wow, it has come such a long way. I don't have a good IDE for AS3 or I might take a look at the code for you. I haven't written AS since Flash 8, and even then, I did very little - but I am a coder by trade...:typerhappy:

Cheers for offering to help. I've decided to do the water animation in aftereffects as an image sequence....much faster to render than using code to effect the image with the perlin algorithm.

Flash is looking good because I'm useing images and not the vectors :D

You are a coder by trade, I feel for you  coding does not come naturally to me at all. I can do it and have coded on and off (heh binary pun) since I had a Vic 20...Eek about 25 years or ago.

AS3 is completely mad and not very well documented...oh and its way of handling dynamic memory and scope is well...at times a mystery. I'd much rather be using something like Blitz3D or Gamemaker 8 but Flash has so many advantages.

Most high-level languages now have memory management that evades explanation. I kinda figured you were doing bitmaps, but it must be fun trying to blend kinematics with bitmaps - it looks very cool. I can't wait for it to be available.

I remember the Vic 20 - precursor to the Commodore64. I started with a paper-fed terminal, TI-99/4A and eventually moved to an IBM PC. Memoriessssss :pc:

Thanks for saying it looks cool :boogie: I think it will have allot of atmosphere when its done.

I did try implementing kinematics in CS4 but Adobe have made a botch job of them and they were unworkable. I've ended up rendering off the walk cycles and idol animations in Blender and pasting the frames into Flash one at a time. It has taken a while but it probably looks beter than it would have if I'd used CS4 bones anyway.

I think the bones might have been fixed in CS5, and they've added some dynamics to them (spring and dampen) I might still end up using them somewhere in the game.

hoping to have an online version of the first level some time around October with a bit of luck.

TI-99/4A WOW! that would probably be worth a bit if you still had it.
